Papermaking with Plants Weekend :: Saturday & Sunday, October 17 & 18 :: 10-5pm
The plants are calling!
Do you feel called to work with plants in a creative hands-on way? Would you like to make your own drawing paper or journal with plant fibers that grow in your garden or along roadsides in your neighborhood? If you want to learn the ins and outs of transforming plants into paper, this workshop is for you.
This is a hands-on, knee deep adventure intended to get you thinking about how you can incorporate locally abundant resources into your creative practice. You will build the foundation of your making paper practice with raw plant material, from learning about the tools and equipment needed to potential plant allies for artistic endeavors.
You will do the work. This workshop is a dive into each step of the plant based paper making process. You will be cutting, cooking, and rinsing fibers. You will see how the hollander beater turns these fibers into pulp and most exciting, you will pull a stack of your own paper to take home.
Due to current circumstances with the Covid-19 pandemic, this workshop is limited to 5 participants and will be held outside. The layout of the space will allow for plenty of room to be physically distant but you will be required to wear a mask when working near others. We will talk about safety and comfortability at the start of the workshop so that we have a plan everyone feels safe. If you have concerns that you would like to discuss in advance of registration, please reach out me.
INVESTMENT: $200 covers the workshop and all materials fees
Please note- if this workshop has your heart singing and you cannot afford to join me, be in touch for a sliding scale or work trade option.
