2023 4 Part Series: Making Books from the Land :: one weekend a month June - Sept 2023
Are you curious to explore your options for making art with plant materials growing in your backyard? In this 4 part workshop series, you will learn how to:
- make paper from old clothing and abundant plants
- dye gently used/repurposed cotton fabrics to make book cloth
- sew 2 journals using coptic and pamphlet stitch methods that include your handmade paper and naturally dyed book cloth
Schedule
Papermaking with Repurposed Textiles :: June 24-25, 10-5pm
Papermaking with Plants :: July 22-23, 10-5pm
Natural Dyeing on Cotton :: August 26-27, 10-5pm
Coptic and Pamphlet Stitch Bookbinding :: September 30-October 1, 10-5pm
This series is designed to build off the previous learning experience and in each weekend, we will create the materials that we need to complete the books in part 4. Please consider this when registering as there will not be an opportunity to make up a missed workshop.

The Patchwork Underground is a gathering place for creativity. With art gardens and studio space surrounded by nature, you will find yourself immersed in beauty that inspires. Join us for workshops and get-togethers as we explore the possibility of working with plants to create art.
ACCESSIBILITY: The Patchwork Underground is within 25 minutes of downtown Asheville. The outdoor workshop spaces are accessed by walking over a textured field, or accessible by vehicle if needed. Indoor restroom facilities are accessible by stairs.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
Cancellations made one month or more before the first scheduled class date (June 24, 2023) will receive a full refund.
Cancellations made less than 1 month before the scheduled class date will be eligible a full refund minus credit card processing fees if someone from the waitlist is able to fill your spot. Otherwise, you will receive a 50% refund or you can transfer your registration to a future workshop within the same calendar year.
Cancellations made 1 week before the workshop are not eligible for a refund. In addition, missed weekends are non-refundable due to the nature of series.
I will do my best to accommodate you should unexpected circumstances arise. Please contact me directly with as much notice as possible if you determine that you need to cancel.
