paper studio access

Need access to paper making tools and equipment? Let's bring your paper ideas to fruition.

I fell in love with paper making in 2016 at Penland School of Crafts. I got stuck because I didn't have access to a studio and equipment to keep going. A year and a half with a broken heart was enough. I invested in a hollander beater and built mould and deckle sets, a press and a dryer box. It's a small scale set-up and it does the trick.

It's available to rent! Get your hands in the pulp and make some paper. Located in Fairview, NC just outside of Asheville.

Equipment includes:

  • Oracle Hollander Beater (capacity 1-1.5lbs of dry fiber)
  • Moulds and deckles ranging in size from 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" to 11" x 17"
  • 20" x 28" deckle box
  • Hydraulic press (12" x 18" capacity)
  • Restraint dryer (24" x 36")
  • Felts and pellons
  • Vats and buckets
  • Cooking set-up for processing raw plant fibers
    • 25 gallon pot
    • propane burner
  • Various other tools and supplies

The rental fee is dependent on fiber to be beaten, scale of project and number of days needed. Would you like to know more or want to make some plans? This form contains a lot of the details and filling it out is the first step to get started.
